The geomechanical modeling workflow

The geomechanical modeling workflow (MODEL > Geomechanics > Modeling) guides you through the necessary steps to build a model that you can use to store all your modeling assumptions for geomechanical analysis.

For geomechanical simulation it is recommended that the geomechanical model and 3D Mesh (both inputs to the geomechanical simulation) have the same underlying data, i.e., preferably the same (watertight) structural model. Differences between both inputs in terms of number of surfaces/zones and/or their names will lead to a warning message when clicking Apply/OK on Geomechanics > Tools > Output Model > Output to 3D Mesh and Abaqus > Assign Data (though you can proceed).

When you have finished the workflow, the next step is to create properties on the 3D mesh or 3D grid with the Output to 3D Mesh or Output to 3D Grid tools in the Tools section of the strip. To map properties between objects, use the Property Mapping Tool.
